

William Stewart is an award winning filmmaker.
Born in Canada, he graduated with Distinction from the MA Directing: Film & TV course at the University of Westminster, London, in 2012. There, Academy Award winner Asif Kapadia, Robert Bierman, Aisling Walsh, Simon Shore, and BAFTA winning editor Barrie Vince mentored him.
He has worked for BBC, Westminster News Online, Colour My London, and directed films in the United Kingdom, India, and Canada.
Three of his short films have screened at the Cannes Film Festival: Touch in 2013, The Three of Us in 2014, and Cycle in 2017.
His short film Black August, which was made in India, represented the country at the Sao Tome FestFilm in Sao Tome & Principe in 2015.
In 2024, his script Firecracker won the award for Best Short Screenplay at the Planet Cinema Festival in the United States. Firecracker also won Best Short Screenplay at the Indie House Film Festival in Spain, the Rome Independent Prisma Awards, the Uruvatti International Film Festival in India, and FINDECOIN Independent International Short Film Festival in Venezuela.
His latest film, The Misadventures of Chet Bodine, is currently in post-production.
